Reverse engineering AoS pt6- W and I

admin

To quote the original White Dwarf article on converting from WFB to Warhammer Quest…

“There isn’t any special way to work out how many Wounds your Monster has, you can just adjust it to your liking, depending on how long you want your monsters to survive. Small Monsters like Goblins can
be seen off with a single blow, while Orcs need to be more enduring. Generally, if your Monsters are good fighters, there won’t be many of them attacking the Warriors, so you’ll want them to survive for a turn or two more”

The article about converting a character from WQ back into WFB mentions that wounds were mainly worked out through extensive playtesting rather than any form of calculation, so we’re a bit stuck there.

I’m interested to see if there’s a better correlation between WQ wounds and Age of Sigmar ones. They still don’t go up as high as some of the dragon and Demon ones, so I doubt it… but lets do some comparisons

WQAoSNotes
Goblin Stabba21
Swamp troll/Fellwater Troggoth304
Ghoul41
Squig32
Dark Elf spearman61
Bloodthirster12514
Lord of change7514
Stormvermin51

Pretty much as expected, there’s not really a correlation between the AoS and WQ wounds, so things remain pretty much as they were… make it up yourself. Looking at the Stormvermin and Squig as examples, we can’t even ensure that something with 2 wounds in AoS would end up with more wounds than something with 1.

Sadly Initiative seems to be one that used to be a simple transfer in WFB, but in AoS there is nothing to even begin to use as a baseline to transfer across. This is another one of those “look for something similar and test it” things. Joy!
