Genius seems to work (mostly)

Much as I seemed doubtful in my last post about the new itunes feature, Genius, I have to say I’m actually kind of impressed with its suggestions so far. I’ve run a few tests and it’s returned a nice selection of playlists. The usual suspects are in there, but occasionally it throws in an unexpected song or three.

For example, selecting a Robots in Disguise track supplied Hadouken!, Ladytron and IAMX… but it also put The Birthday Massacre‘s Video Kid in the playlist. Not a jump I’d have initially thought of, but works very well. I’m glad to see it’s already thinking like me and mixing it up a little :D

Having said that… I just tried William Orbit’s version of Adagio for Strings. Oh dear. FAILURE! Genius seems to, currently anyway, only go by the artist… so I’ve been given the Prodigy, Terrorvision, Mock turtles and Goldie Lookin Chain?! (links to be added in the morning). Not that I’m certain how most of those relate to William Orbit anyway…
